Hi, I’m Max. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist based in Toronto. I’m the son of immigrants from the Philippines and I’ve lived in this city for most of my life. My first career was in Book Publishing where I worked for over a decade. I’m a practitioner and Sifu (instructor) in Wing Chun Kung Fu with over twenty years of experience. I got the term centreline from Wing Chun which, to me, relates to the core self, the sacred part of each of us that we need to keep safe and always come home to.
I draw from psychotherapy modalities including Narrative Therapy, Grief Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Existential Therapy, and from my training in Spiritual Care, Somatic Abolitionism with Resmaa Menakem, The Trauma of Money, and Writing the Unthinkable with Lynda Barry. I am passionate about working with many types of clients including immigrants and refugees, people wounded by their workplaces, and BIPOC. I work with individuals, from those in quarterlife to those in their elder years, who are seeking self-acceptance, deeper relationships, personal agency, and meaning, and who want to rediscover the unique sacred parts of themselves so they can feel all that they need to feel and more fully engage in their lives.
